Our Story:
Shirwill Trim Shop began all the way back in 1933 — back when handheld hair dryers had been on the market for less than 15 years! From our start, we saw dog grooming as a tender act of care, not simply improving appearances, and our focus has always been on building trust with our pups before even breaking out the tools.
Our current owner, Genevieve Neff, learned that approach firsthand from her years of apprenticing at Shirwill. So when the time eventually came for our previous owner to retire, it was only natural that Genevieve take over! Since then, we’ve proudly served families in Locust Valley, Glen Cove, Greenvale, Roslyn, Brookville, Oyster Bay, and Bayville, providing grooming that’s as thoughtful as it is skilled.
Here, your dog is never just another name on a schedule. We keep our grooming team small so your pup always gets individual attention — no loud chaos, no conveyor-belt grooming. Just one-on-one care with familiar, gentle hands.

Genevieve grew up loving animals, and it was no surprise to her friends and family when she ended up going to school for pet grooming. As she continued her education under the apprenticeship of a professional show dog groomer and breeder, her passion quickly became a thriving career where she gained valuable on-the-job experience in approaching and caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments. Once her apprentice stepped down from ownership of Shirwill Trim Shop, Genevieve eagerly took up management of the practice to continue a legacy of care that had started in 1933.
With over 40 years of hands-on grooming experience and a lifelong passion for pet care, Genevieve takes great pride in caring for the dogs of Locust Valley, NY. A lifelong learner, she is committed to continuing her education every chance she can find, whether through additional training or simply staying in tune with the broader pet care industry.
